Season of the
Witch
This film released in 2010, starring Nicolas Cage, involves medieval
style witch hunt scenario. Based in the 1300’s we follows Cage as he and another
Knight as they desert the crusades and the church along with it.
They try to go home and resume their lives but
are discovered upon entering a town which has become inflicted with a plague.
The pair are then recruited by the church once more to escort a girl, they
believe to be the witch who has inflicted this plague upon the town, to a monastery
where the monks will decide her fate.
Now whilst this style of film is right up my street I have
to say I found it pretty lacking in…. well, pretty much anything. The graphics
where sub-par and I never really felt captured or hooked by the story or the
characters. Even with a number of well-known faces throughout the cast it just
didn’t do anything for me.
I only kept watching if I’m honest as I knew I would be writing
this blog entry about it and felt I needed to be able to give my honest opinion
of the film, and I don’t believe that is possible without watching a film in its
entirety.
I’m sorry to say I wouldn’t recommend it, even though I don’t
feel it was wasted hours of my life I won’t be watching it again.
